WELCOME TO THE FIRST QEII FIELD IN STAFFORDSHIRE
Shenstone Playing Fields are an integral part of village life, being located close to the heart of the village and close to other village amenities. The playing fields were donated to the village by Walter John Ryman and became a registered charity in 1988. Shenstone Parish Council are custodial trustees and the SPFMC are management trustees.
Shenstone Playing Fields has held many village events, being home to the Shenstone Show for many years, folk singing, holding charity football matches, part of the Shenstone Fun Run and having a village bonfire annually. It has been host to local cricket clubs and currently has a youth football team, ladies football team as well as Shenstone Pathfinders FC. There is a popular tennis club which holds coaching events and club nights, as well as a Sports and Social Club, “The Pavilions” on site. There is a skateboard park and a play area as well as plenty of space for people to walk their dogs, play informal games and just enjoy the fresh air!
SPFMC has worked hard to improve the facilities since 2009, with an improved play area, circular paths, outdoor gym equipment and a MUGA (Multi-Use Games Area). There has been major improvements and we are looking to continually improve the facilities.
At the first public consultation held on April 24th 2009, Shenstone Villagers said the main reasons for using the playing fields were for fresh air, the childrens play area and the pavilions club. 70% of people rated the facilities as average or good, identifying the main areas of improvement as the play area, seating around the field and the pavilions club. When asked about other amenities that would be required, the most popular were a multi-purpose surface, more benches and a meeting area.
Most of this is now been done
